Who is God Really?
Who is God really? This may sound like a strange question, but think for a moment - do you really know who God is or do you have a conception of God given to you by someone else?
Have you met God personally and has He revealed Himself to you so that you received it straight from the “horse’s mouth,” so to speak?
Is your conception of God based upon truth or a lie? Think about it for a moment.
Why would God say in John 4:23 that He is looking for those true worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth? Is it possible that some are worshipping based upon a lie?
Consider Romans 1:22-23,25 that says,
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools and changed the the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts and creeping things…who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
So when you think of God do you make Him like man - but just a little better?
According to the scriptures you just read, that’s changing the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image (thought image) like to corruptible man. And the Word of God calls that being a fool.
All of these questions are raised for a good purpose. They are designed to increase and establish your faith. Your faith in God is based upon what you think. And if you want to have a strong faith and a real relationship with the God of heaven, then your belief about God must be correct.
So, to answer the question “Who is God really?” is an extremely important task that everyone must undertake. This question cannot go unanswered. It really is a matter of life and death.
Just compare Moses and Pharoah. Who knew God and who didn’t?
What about David and Goliath? or…
Noah and the rest of the world? or…
…you get the picture.
Our desire is to share with you the truths about God that are recorded in His word. We will begin by sharing the truths that are considered “theology” in our world. Theology (which means the “study of God”) is not just for those who want to become ministers or preachers or some degreed religious leader. Theology should not be confined inside the walls of seminaries and Bible schools.
Studying the person of God is something EVERY person should do so that they know their God, their Father, their Lord!
One of the reasons so many are struggling in their faith and living less than courageous lives is because they are ignorant about the God they say they serve. They have no idea who He truly is. And they are left with a God who is just a little more stronger and little more smarter than they are, but subject to the same limitations as they are.
It’s hard to trust in a God like that and that’s why so many do not have a faith in God that goes beyond the few hours on Sunday morning. We want to help change that.
Let’s begin our journey by watching this inspiring video. The late S.M. Lockridge once presented an incredible message, describing our God and who He is. Though God can’t be described with just words, this is as close as you can get this side of Heaven.
